  1. the svelte selection – big birthday special!

    Image
OMG I’m old! Which means BIG CELEBRATION TIME.

This month’s show is a bit different to the usual svelte selection. Firstly, it’s all party tunes, tunes you could play at a party. Well, that I could play at my party. Secondly, they’re random. I just hit ‘Shuffle’ and played what came up. More usually, however, all tunes are accompanied by little stories about why I love them. It’s kinda sweet and hugely self-indulgent, but it’s my birthday so COPE.

I really recommend getting the whole show from here, but if you just want tunes, go to the Spotify Playlist here

  3. the svelte selection – tunes and trains

    enginedriverHello!

My beloved home Purple Radio, had a few technical glitches last week as we moved over to our new service provider, so I recorded this off-line for your delight and delectation. You’d think, perhaps, that would mean a more professional and well-sculpted show, wouldn’t you? But no, tis the usual mix of talking crap and playing amazing tunes. Still, I hope you’ll like it.

During the show I ramble on a bit about trains, cos last week I went on hols around Devon and Somerset and got to visit the Didcot Railway Centre, the West Somerset Railway and the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway. AND go to an amazing wedding. It was fecking lovely and I think my rambling goes to show just how relaxed and wonderful it was. Fuq it, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

So, if I’ve tempted you into my wee musical web, you may download or stream the show from here.

I want to start this blog by saying that tonsillitis SUCKS. Tonsillitis really fucking sucks. It REALLY FUCKING SUCKS.

Look, even Charlie Brooker agrees with me. And he’s right about a lot of stuff.

Why is this important? Well, it explains a few things:

      a. Why this show is being uploaded over a week after the broadcast

      b. Why the show itself is almost 100% devoid of my talking

      c. Why I’m at home on a Friday night writing this blog rather than seeing the wonderful Adam Buxton at Kings Place

Some of the above may well be a blessing to y’all, but they’ve all pissed me off to a rather large extent.

    To reiterate: tonsillitis SUCKS.
