Deep Purple

Deep Purple

Deep Purple (can you see what we did there) is a new show that brings 90 minutes of suitably mellow tuneage to the Purple Radio airwaves to chill/zone/mong out to. It runs post-Mystery Mix in the 11.00-12.30 slot Thursday nights fortnightly.

Usual routine, if you fancy submitting a mix yourself for broadcast simply add your name to an available date, get your mix together and we’ll take care of the rest.

Mellow, Mellow

Mellow, Mellow

We’ve started a new mix project thingy, which is basically an hour of non-scary tuneage to soothe your frazzled noggin after what has probably been yet another monster weekend. It runs midday ’til 1 fortnightly Sundays and is open to all. So if you fancy putting a mix together of suitably calming, laidback stuff for broadcast – simply add your name to a date that suits and we’ll take care of the rest.

Mystery Mix

Mystery Mix

Every Thursday night at 10 a Purple Radio listener is given the opportunity to entertain, educate (and sometimes baffle!) with an hour long mix from the farthest corners of their music collection. Hidden album tracks, great cover versions, forgotten B sides, soundtrack snippets, obscure remixes and ‘before they were famous’ tracks are very much the order of the day.

Pick of the Pops

Pick of the Pops

Like pop music? We love it, which is why we now run a fortnightly Sunday afternoon pure pop session on Purple Radio.

Purple Radio’s Pick of the Pops: a C90 sized celebration of timeless pop music, with not a guilty pleasure in sight.

Saturday Soul

Saturday Soul

Wilson Pickett, Soul II Soul, Dionne Warwick, Don E, Mica Paris, Sam Cooke, Dusty Springfield, McKay, Mary J Blige, Womack & Womack, Isley Brothers, George Benson,The Delfonics, Janet Jackson, The Three Degrees, Gamble & Huff, Frankie Beverly, Bobby Caldwell, Beverly Knight, Elton John, James Brown…are just some of the artists that we’d love to hear on Saturday Soul.

But whatever your take on soul music, we want to hear it.

So usual routine, if you fancy submitting a two hour mix for broadcast on Purple Radio simply put your name down against a date that suits and we’ll take care of the rest. No previous DJ experience is necessary, just a love of soul music and a passion to share it with like-minded folk.

We look forward to your selection.

The Re-Rub Club

The Re-Rub Club

New for 2009, we’re inviting Purple Radio listeners to submit a two hour mix of their favourite remixes to be broadcast 2 ‘til 4 Saturday afternoons. Any genre and format is welcome, so don’t feel excluded if you’re not a slave to vinyl. CD, mp3 & wax cylinder all fit the bill providing the tunes featured are alternative takes on the original versions.

Usual routine, simply add your name to an available date and we’ll take care of the rest.
